Rosealma B. (Belanger) Desmarais, 101, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Monday, October 3, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her family.She was born in Haverhill, December 14, 1909, the daughter of the late, Joseph and Emma (Brouillett) Belanger. She attended the Pollard School in Plaistow, NH and at a young age went to work in the local shoe industry. For over twenty-five years, Mrs Desmarais was employed at Al’s Place Restaurant in Haverhill, as the Salad Chef, retiring at age 93. She was a member of St. James Church and the St. James Ladies Sodality.Rosealma’s whole world revolved around her family a marvelous cook, and baker, she decorated cakes, and enjoyed gardening, picking blueberries, strawberries, apples, canning, long stitch, bowling, and spending hours at the computer.The widow of Joseph A. Desmarais who died in 1978, she leaves her beloved children, Armand J. Desmarais and his wife Jean, of Inverness, FL, Albert A. Desmarais, and his wife Claire, of Derry, NH, Alfred O. Desmarais and his wife, Rita, of Bradford, Joan B. and her husband Charles Kelley, of Maynard, and Carolyn A. and Stephen Radzwill, of Haverhill, 15 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren . The eldest of eight siblings who predeceased her, Irene Mourey, Helen Drapeau, Marguerite (Dusombre) Allen, Joseph Belanger, Emmarose Bergeron, Francis Belanger, Marie Thornton, Theresa Belanger, and her son, and daughter in law, Robert L. and Jean Desmarais.Her kindness, generosity, and love exhibited to her family and friends will leave an everlasting impression on all who knew her.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill.
