Haverhill – Shirley M. (Corson) Belfiore, 92, wife of the late John Belfiore peacefullypassed away May 10 at the Penacook Place in Haverhill. Born in Fremont, NH she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Della (Young) Corson. Raised and educated in Kingston, NH she graduated from Sanborn Seminary in 1942. After high school she attended Western Union Telegraph School and during World War II worked as a telegraph operator at Ft. Devens. Shirley was an avid volunteer, for the PTA at the Burnham and Nettle Schools while her children attended and in later years as well. She was a Girl Scout leader and also volunteered at the Buttonwoods Museum, the former Hale Hospital, and the Merrimack Valley Hospital. Shirley was a member of Fidelity Chapter 90, O.E.S. She was known to be ahead of her time. She had an open door policy with her children and their friends. Everyone knew her home was a safe haven. Shirley loved to garden and watch the birds in her garden. Her love and knowledge of birds was passed on to her family. In 1998, at the age of 74, she traveled with her daughter to China as the adoption process for her granddaughter was completed. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Surviving her are her children, Gary Belfiore and his wife Susan (Gately) of Haverhill Mark Belfiore of Haverhill Lynne Belfiore and Richard Whitman of Marstons Mills and JoniBelfiore and Mark Perri of Atkinson, NH her sister Bettie Ouellette of Kingston, NH five grandchildren, Brian, Sarah, Emmalisa, Lucy Grace, and Lia Belfiore two greatgrandchildren, Olivia and Abigail and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceasedby her brother in law Roger Ouellette.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, May 14 from 12:00PM until 1:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. A funeral service will follow at 1:00PM in the funeral home. The family would like to thank Penacook Place for the outstanding care they provided.
