Simonne Lucienne (Rochette) Laine, 83, of Haverhill, formerly of Lawrence, died Sunday, March 3, 2011, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.Born and educated in Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late, Albert and Noella (Picard) Rochette.
Moving to Lawrence, she attended Lawrence High School where she studied for and received her Naturalized Citizenship in the United States. She was employed in the local shoe industry, and worked in the lasting rooms of the Lawrence Maid Shoe Company and the Cardinal Shoe Company. She then went to work at the former Bon Secours Hospital in Methuen. Employed in the housekeeping department, she would retire in 1992 after twelve years of service.For the past five years, Mrs. Laine was a resident at the Haverhill Crossing Assisted Living Community. She had a generous personality, always wanting to give to others, she loved animals, and kept cats and birds.She leaves her daughter and son in law, Carole S. and Robert C. Beede, of Londonderry, NH, two grandchildren, Robin Wright, and Deborah Hardy, a sister, Yolande Rochette, of Quebec, Canada, and nieces and nephews.At the request of Mrs. Laine, funeral services and burial are private. Memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844-2052. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill.
