Smith, 27, husband of Mariah C. (Dodge) Smith, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Richard and Gloria (Campbell) Smith. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Whittier Tech, Class of 2011 in carpentry. He was a very meticulous carpenter, organized in everything he attempted. He also had a small engine repair business, Chris’s Small Engine Repair, for twelve years. Christopher loved working on cars, especially his father’s 66GTO. With his family, he summered every year at Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire and married the love of his life, Mariah in 2020. They were together for over nine years. His home on Lake Winnisquam was his absolute happiest place, he helped build his family home on the lake and had so many beautiful memories there. The lake house is part of an association where Chris took so much joy out of helping everyone take care of the property he spent countless hours and days making sure things always looked perfect and taken care of. Everyone up there was like family to him, as he was to them. He enjoyed boating as well as water skiing, and was always the first one the kids ran to when they wanted to go tubing. All the family and friends he spent years of beautiful summers with will miss him deeply. Chris battled his cancer for the last two years and was diagnosed over 10 years ago, but it came back with a vengeance. His smile could light up a room and he was well loved by all who knew him. Chris will be sorely missed by his family and his friends. Chris had the most kind and genuine soul, anyone that knew him adored him and he had a way of making everyone he came across feel important and loved. There was never a single time that when someone needed his help he’d say no, it was always “yeah sure no problem” “I can do that for you” he would do anything for anyone and that’s just one of the beautiful things about him people loved. He could fix just about anything that was broken, a true handy man. It was amazing to see him take on any task and finish it with pride. He loved making people laugh and his gentle heart beamed for everyone to see. Every person, every age, just gravitated towards him. He was a perfect gentleman, and treated everyone with respect and kindness, even if they didn’t treat him that way. Chris took care of his family always, and was and still is the most outstanding husband, son, brother, and friend. The last few months of his life he endured so much pain and suffering from this horrible disease, and yet every day he still found ways to love and care for others. Every day he still wanted to make sure the ones he loves weren’t hurting… even though he was fighting for his own life. He will be missed immensely, every second, every moment. Always. “I will love you until my last breath, and in this life time and the next. I believe our love will transcend lifetimes, because that’s just how connected we have always been and always will be I’ll see you again someday my love, forever yours.
