Haverhill – Mary B. (Clark) Peel, 88, wife of the late Benjamin F. Peel, Jr. of Haverhill, died Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Ridgewood Center in Bedford, New Hampshire after a long illness. She was born April 20, 1933, in Lawrence, the daughter of the late John F. and Mary B. (Donovan) Clark.<\/p>\n

She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, 1950 and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 1954. She began her Master\u2019s Degree studies at the Sorbonne, Paris, France, and obtained both her Master\u2019s Degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Clark University, Worcester.\u00a0 She began her teaching career as a French and Latin teacher at Sutton High School, Sutton, Ma followed by teaching French at Wachusett Regional High School, Princeton, Ma and at Lynnfield High School prior to her many years teaching French at Haverhill High School. She was a St. John the Baptist Church parishioner where she served for many years as the CCD director as well as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was a Past President of the Greater Lawrence College Club.<\/p>\n

She is survived by her sister Ann Harty Wheeler, Orlando, FL, her nephew John J. and wife Janice (Deane) Harty, Manchester, New Hampshire and nieces Patricia A. Harty, Cocoa, FL and Kathleen M. Harty, Orlando, FL; her great nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Auntie Mame and Mamie.\u00a0 She was extremely close to all of them, Timothy J. and John J. Veltsos, Caitlin M., Kelsey T., James J. and Audrey P. Harty, Sarah A. (Taliento) and husband Branden Lambert, Angela B. Taliento and Ryan C. Taliento and his wife Fabiola Taliento . She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin F. Peel, Jr. and sons John Benjamin Peel and Benjamin Fielding (Biffy) Peel, III; her nephew Thomas F. Harty.<\/p>\n

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, June 7 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning at 9:00AM in the funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill at 10:00AM.
