Michael Leo Nicholas, 72, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, finished his battle with cancer on Thursday, May 11, 2023.<\/p>\n
Mike was born on July 10, 1950 in Lewiston, Maine, to Leo and Mary Nicholas. \u00a0He graduated from Perkins Institute for the Blind in 1972. \u00a0On November 30, 1974 he married the love of his life, Helen Marion of Haverhill, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n
While Mike worked through the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind at many concession stands in the greater Boston area, most famously, \u201cMike\u2019s Snack Shack\u201d in the Haverhill Post Office, his true life\u2019s work, the job that kept him going, was caring for his family. \u00a0Further demonstrating this passion in caring for people, he and his wife organized a compassionate ministry in Haverhill that provided food and clothing for those in need.<\/p>\n
Michael will be greatly missed by his wife Helen, his sisters Bernadette Cunningham, Elizabeth Chamberlain, and Cecile Nicholas, his brother John Nicholas, his daughter Heather and her husband Tom, their four children, Emily, Thomas, Nicholas, and Katy Nowell, his daughter Jessica Merkaj and her children Austin, Brandon, and JessaLynn, and many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
