{"id":3954,"date":"2023-08-17T16:27:21","date_gmt":"2023-08-17T16:27:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/comeaufuneral.com\/?p=3954"},"modified":"2023-08-17T16:27:21","modified_gmt":"2023-08-17T16:27:21","slug":"margaret-a-peg-walsh-80","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comeaufuneral.com\/2025-1\/margaret-a-peg-walsh-80\/","title":{"rendered":"Margaret A. \u201cPeg\u201d Walsh, 80"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BRADFORD\u2013 Margaret A. \u201cPeg\u201d Walsh, 80, of Bradford, passed away on Friday August 11, at the Edgewood Retirement Community in North Andover.<\/p>\n<p>Peg was born in Bellevue, PA on February 14, 1943 the only child of Edward and Mary (Schneider) McBride. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree from Carlow College, Pittsburgh, PA followed by a Doctorate of Philosophy from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. Peg was a beloved professor of Philosophy at Bradford College for 27 years, where she challenged students to think critically and analyze the fundamental questions of life.\u00a0 Through her teaching at Bradford, Peg connected with her students and became a lifelong friend and mentor to many.\u00a0 When the college closed its doors in May of 2000, Peg served as a professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Simmons College, and Merrimack College. Upon her retirement, she began a new academic endeavor as one of the founders of the Rainbow Lifelong Learning Institute of Boston. At Rainbow, Peg worked to create an educational and social environment where LGBT seniors could learn and thrive with others.\u00a0 Among many interests, Peg enjoyed playing bridge. She got her start at the North Andover Senior Center, was soon hosting competitive games at her home in Bradford and eventually took her game on the road with friends to bridge weekends in New Hampshire.\u00a0 She loved being a part of her book club, attending her granddaughters\u2019 sporting events and theatrical performances, and cheering on the Celtics. Peg found herself enriched and embraced by the community she found at the UU Church of Haverhill.\u00a0 She will be remembered dearly by all those who knew and loved her.<\/p>\n<p>Peg is survived by her daughters Laura Harris and her husband Todd, of Lynnfield, and Karen Gray and her husband Rob, of Belmont; her niece Susan Walsh and her husband, Jamin AAsum of Portland, OR; and her grandchildren Courtney, Phoebe, Bridget and Abigail.<\/p>\n<p>ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 26 at the UU Church of Haverhill, 15 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill.
