{"id":3980,"date":"2023-09-13T16:21:25","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T16:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/comeaufuneral.com\/?p=3980"},"modified":"2023-09-13T16:21:25","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T16:21:25","slug":"frederick-burbridge-84","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comeaufuneral.com\/2025-1\/frederick-burbridge-84\/","title":{"rendered":"Frederick Burbridge, 84"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEWTON, NH &#8211; Frederick Burbridge passed away Sunday, September 10th at Avita of Newburyport surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n<p>Fred was born in Boston on May 9, 1939 to Frederick and Anne (Griffin) Burbridge, Sr. He was raised in Somerville, and was a graduate of Somerville High School.\u00a0 Fred went on to obtain his BS in Computer Science from Northeastern University, going to school nights while working full-time. Fred and Mim moved to Groveland in 1969 and built a life in the \u201ccountry\u201d where they raised their boys.<\/p>\n<p>Fred was active in the community serving on the town Planning Board and was instrumental in the Open Space Committee securing Veasy Park for ongoing town recreational use.<\/p>\n<p>Fred worked for the John Hancock Insurance Company in computer operations for over 25 years and later in the defense industry and as a technical recruiter.\u00a0 In his spare time, he was an avid woodworker building many pieces of furniture that dotted their home. Fred was proud of his military service, serving in the US Army reserve for over 25 years and obtaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.\u00a0 He was on active duty during Operation Desert Shield serving at Hanscom Air Force base.<\/p>\n<p>They moved to Newton, New Hampshire after Mim retired and enjoyed visiting Old Orchard Beach and winters at their condo in Hollywood, Florida.\u00a0 They also traveled throughout the US and beyond, enjoying their time together seeing new sights and reaping the benefits of their hard work.<\/p>\n<p>Fred is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Marianne (Mim) Burbridge and sons Stephen (Mindy) and David; as well as his sisters, Elizabeth McGaffigan, and Anne Marie and her husband Anthony Costanzo, and her brothers Christopher Burbridge, Paul Burbridge and James Burbridge; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.\u00a0 Fred is also survived by his grandchildren Aidan, Claire, Dylan, Kate and Grace.\u00a0 Fred was predeceased by his father Federick S. Burbridge Sr. and his mother Anne V. Burbridge as well as his brothers John and Tom and his nephew Freddie. Fred will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather<\/p>\n<p>The family would like to thank the staff at Avita of Newburyport for the care they showed to Fred during his residency there.\u00a0 Fred felt the love and care of all of the team and they put the family\u2019s minds to rest knowing that he was well looked after.\u00a0 In addition, the family is thankful to the team from Compassus Care who provided great care and kept Fred comfortable while in hospice care.<\/p>\n<p>ARRANGEMENTS: A private interment with full military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 21st from 1PM until 5PM at the\u00a0Sargent Woods Community Center, Newton, NH.\u00a0.
