Brent peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 17th at his home.

Joe was born and raised in Haverhill to his late parents, Frederick and Agnes (Shanahan) Brent. After graduating from Whittier Vocational Technical High School in 1981, he worked hard in the culinary arts field. He was a meat cutter for several years at Market Basket and later at Haverhill Beef. He also managed the kitchen at the Chicken Connection until he decided to open his own small business. From 2002 – 2017, Joe was the sole proprietor of Joe’s Quick Stop in Haverhill, where he built a very successful business and fostered many long-lasting friendships with his regular customers. Joe had several interests and hobbies. He loved boating with his family and friends in the Crane’s Beach area or at his lake house in Milton, NH. He enjoyed listening to music, playing guitar, and jamming with his friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and his craftsmanship can be found throughout his house and will leave lasting memories for years to come. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything that needed attention. Joe made everyone laugh and didn’t take anything too seriously. He was generous with his time and treasured any moment spent with the people he loved. Joe was a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle. He was looking forward to becoming a first time Grandpa later this year.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Jacqueline (Crowe) Brent, his children, Nolan S. Brent, Erin C. Brent and Joseph P. Brent. He also leaves behind his siblings, Kathryn Simonds and her husband Mike, Barbara Mitchell, Judith Russo and her husband Chuck, and John “Jack” Brent and his wife Maureen, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Joe was predeceased by his sister Mary Brent, and his brothers Michael Brent and Daniel Brent.
