(Cantwell) Kneeland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Tuesday at Lawrence General Hospital. She was 88.\u201cEllie,\u201d as Mrs. Kneeland was affectionately known to family and friends, was a devoted, encouraging, and inspirational wife of Foster \u201cSpot\u201d Kneeland for 65 years.They lived most of their lives in Haverhill, and in recent years resided in both Bradford and Boynton Beach, Fla.Mrs. Kneeland was one of twelve children of the Cantwell family who grew up in the Mount Washington area of Haverhill. She was born July 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Bernard J. and Ellen \u201cO\u2019Rourke\u201d Cantwell. She attended tilton School and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1943.Mrs. Kneeland is survived by a son, David Kneeland and his companion, Christine Santoro, of Sebastian, Fla.  a son, Thomas Kneeland, and his wife, Michaelyn, of Haverhill  a daughter, Sandra (Kneeland) Casey, and her husband, Hugh \u201cChuck,\u201d of Bradford  and a daughter, Susan (Kneeland) Rumore, and her husband, John, of Atkinson, N.H. . She was predeceased by a son, Francis Charles.Mrs. Kneeland also leaves cherished grandchildren, Joshua Kneeland and his wife, Stacy, and their children Olivia and Liam of Byfield  Kate Kneeland of Haverhill  Charles \u201cCJ\u201d Casey of Manhattan, NY  Erin (Casey) Mulvaney, her husband, Michael, and their daughter, Quinn Eleanor, of Hillsborough, N.J.  Sarah (Rumore) Fumia, her husband, Jeffrey, and their children Avery and Tanner of Haverhill, Amanda Rumore, of Boston, Kate Kneeland and her children, Ella and Ruby, of Haverhill.Eleanor F. and Foster C. Kneeland are the founders and longtime owners of the successful Haverhill Cable and Manufacturing Corporation.Mrs. Kneeland and her husband have been longtime members of the Haverhill Country Club, where they have many friends. She was an avid reader of books and newspapers. Retired since 1982 she and her husband, Foster have live between Florida and Bradford, and have relished the many years together, golfing and traveling the country. Mrs. Kneeland leaves brothers George E. Cantwell of South Hamilton  Bernard J. Cantwell and his wife, Loretta, of Monroe, N.J.  and Robert J. Cantwell and his wife, Catherine, of Haverhill  sisters, Mrs. Erlene R. Dozibrin of Salem, N.H.  Mrs. Sophie Ann Murphy of North Andover  and Dorothy I. Cantwell and Patricia S. Ross, both of Bradford, Brother and sisters in law, Russell and Beverly Kneedland, of Nashua, NH, and Florence McNeilly, of Sandwich, MA, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kneeland was predeceased by a brother, Wiliam N. Cantwell, and sisters, Arlene A. Lyons, Mary E. \u201cBetty\u201d Uele and Joan K. Lessard.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday in the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose St. Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one\u2019s choice.
