Haverhill \u2013 Virginia M. (Cronin) O\u2019Brien, 90, of Haverhill, died Tuesday, August 20 at her home with her loving daughter by her side. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (McAuliffe) Cronin. A lifelong member of St. James Parish, she attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of St. James High School, class of 1940. Mrs. O\u2019Brien was employed at the Western Electric Co. in North Andover as a layout operator for twenty-two years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In her spare time Mrs. O\u2019Brien enjoyed cross stitching, but her love for travel brought her to Ireland and Italy, trips she would fondly remember. The widow of Robert E. O\u2019Brien Jr., who passed away in 2005, she leaves her daughter, Mary E. Phaneuf, with whom she lived, a sister, Mary D. (Mrs. Frank) Regan, three cherished grandchildren, Robert \u201cRob\u201d E. O\u2019Brien IV and his wife Cassandra, of Arlington, VA, Adam O\u2019Brien and his fianc\u00e9, Katherine Cummings, of Epping, NH, and Alex O\u2019Brien, also of Epping, NH, a great granddaughter, Alexxis O\u2019Brien, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her son, Robert E. O\u2019Brien III, brothers, Leonard and Joseph Cronin and her sister, Elizabeth Cronin.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday from 4 until 7 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill.
