Atkinson, NH \u2013 Richard C. \u201cDickie\u201d Hanscom, 81, passed away August 13, 2018 at Portsmouth Hospital surrounded by his loving family.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Clarence and Emma (Garavanta) Hanscom. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1955. He was employed for over 35 years as a Layout Operator for Lucent Technologies. Dickie was known as a smart, comical, kind and generous gentleman who was loved by all. He enjoyed summering at Hampton Beach, NH with his family and friends. Dickie loved to gamble, frequenting Rockingham and Seabrook Race tracks, travelling to Las Vegas and Foxwoods. He will be remembered for his humor and his kind, loving spirit.He leaves behind his loving sister, Nancy L. Peabody of Atkinson, NH his adoring nieces, Debra A. House and her husband Jeffrey of Haverhill and Linda M. DeLegge and her husband Kevin of Atkinson, NH and great nieces Taylor and Allison House and Cassandra and Olivia DeLegge. He was predeceased by his brother Robert H. Hanscom.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, August 17 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Saturday morning at 9:00AM at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill.
