Groveland \u2013 Mary R. (DiBlasi) Whitney, 85, wife of the late William F. Whitney, passed away February 28, 2018 at High Pointe Hospice with her loving family by her side.Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Elvira (Popuolo) DiBlasi. She was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. Mary met her husband William while working at the Victor Coffee Company in 1951 and married soon after. She lived in Groveland for over 50 years and raised her family there. A devoted wife and mother, Mary loved to entertain for the holidays. She was a fabulous cook and was well known with family and friends for her \u201cBasta\u201d. Mary enjoyed crocheting and playing Bingo. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary is survived by her children, Robert W. Whitney and his wife Sandra of Kingston, NH John F. Whitney of Marlborough William F. Whitney and his wife Sonya of Seabrook, NH Nelson J. Whitney and his wife Anna of Jay, ME Vera E. DiFalco and her husband Greg of Newton, NH siblings, John DiBlasi and his wife Gloria of Middleboro Nelson DiBlasi and his wife Diane of Quincy Salvatore DiBlasi and his wife Katherine of Stoughton Josephine Dellapiana of Braintree Lucille Dunn of Stoneham Diane Snell and her husband Robert of Arlington eight grandchildren twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband William she was predeceased by her brother Charles DiBlasi, sisters Rose Fondanova and Nancy Armstrong. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 5 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 1:00PM. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland.
