Haverhill \u2013 Janice L. (Broadard) Alestock, 78, wife of the late Elmer C. Alestock, passed away December 16, 2018 after a gradual decline in health at Wingate at Haverhill with her loving family by her side.Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late William H. Broadard, Sr., her mother Janet (Medley) Hamlett and step father Randolph Hamlett. Janice moved to Boston and attended Boston Schools. Later in life she married Elmer C. Alestock and moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she remained for several years. The family eventually moved to Haverhill, MA where she remained until her passing. She attended Northern Essex Community College, obtaining several degrees. In 1980 she was hired as an Offset Duplicator Machine Operator in the Graphics Department.She was very active in the Haverhill community. Janice was one of the founding members of CASA, the Citizens Against Substance Abuse in the Acre Neighborhood, being awarded the Crime Fighter of the Year Award. She was also nominated for Woman of the Year. Janice was a recipient of the Liberty Bell Award, the Distinguished Service Award and the Massachusetts Commonwealth Citation for Outstanding Performance. She was head of the local American Federation for State, County and Municipal Employees Chapter. Janice was the Chief Examiner and Corrector of all GED tests. She was a very well loved and respected strong woman. Janice was very active in her church, Church of the Nazarene where she loved to teach Sunday School. Devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she is an inspiration for her dedication and tireless work. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Janice is survived by her children, Anthony Alestock and his wife Stacy of Haverhill Michael Alestock and his wife Glenda of Haverhill Wanda Powell and her husband William of Prince George, VA Pamela Curtis of Fredericksburg, VA Tanya Alestock of Lorton, VA her brothers, William Broadard, Jr. of Mattapan Ricardo Hamlett of Louisiana Leslie Hamlett of Newton, NH her sister, Cheryl Bourassa of Florida 22 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother John Broadard.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, December 21 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services are on Saturday at 11:00AM at the Church of the Nazarene, 957 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill.
