Robert D. Thomas, 58, passed away at his Riverdale Avenue home in Bradford September 2, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Anna, Illinois March 14, 1963, he was the son of Nancy (Housman) Vossenkemper and the late Fred M. Thomas. He attended grammar school in Bethalto, IL and high school in Los Angeles. Robert settled in Haverhill in 1987 before living in Saugus, Gloucester and Rockport. He also lived in Baton Rouge, LA before coming to Haverhill. He loved travelling and visited many places including China, Italy, the Southwest, Navajo Reservations and other countries. Robert worked with the disabled at Danvers State Hospital and with Shore Collaborative for many years and was fluent in sign language that he learned while working with New England Homes for the Deaf in Salem.
Robert is survived by his partner of 38 years E. Everette Bryan of Bradford; his loving mother, Nancy Vossenkemper of Bethalto, IL; sisters Lisa Eggemann of Bethalto, IL, Laura and her husband Bryce Ash of Effingham, IL and Kim Vossenkemper, Woodriver, IL; brothers, Freddie Thomas and his wife LeAnna of Winston, GA and Allen Thomas and his wife Judie of Woodriver, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
