Joan T. (Radke) Rans, 90 July 20, 1930 - December 7, 2020

Costa Mesa, CA – Joan T. (Radke) Rans, 90, passed away peacefully
surrounded by her loving family on December 7, 2020.

Born in Newton, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late August C.
and Helen M. (Litzelman) Radke. She served in the United States Air
Force as a Captain and was honorably discharged, serving from 1957
until 1961. Joan obtained a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree from
St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, IL in 1951. She was a
Registered Nurse in healthcare for many years. Joan was a lifelong
labor and delivery nurse, working for Dr. Clarence Young in Apple
Valley, CA, St. Mary’s Hospital also in Apple Valley, CA and at
Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Orange, CA. She was a member of the
National Association of Catholic Nurses. Joan was an avid reader, and
a friend to everyone she met. Her loving smile, good nature, genuine
kindness and quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joan is survived by her children, Max Rans and his wife Donna (Comeau) Rans of
South Boston; Eric Rans and his wife Michele of Costa Mesa, CA; her sister,
Evelyn Null of Joliet, IL; grandchildren, Monique, David and Rachel
Rans of Boston and Sofia Rans of Costa Mesa, CA; and several nieces
and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Rose Marie Buerster,
Nancy Radke and Maxine Geltz.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be in Sainte Marie, IL in the summer of 2021. A month’s mind Mass will be celebrated on December 30 at 9:00 AM at the Gate of Heaven Church, East 4th St. South Boston. To offer condolences please visit Comeau Funeral Home on Facebook or www.comeaufuneral.com
