GROVELAND – Robert J. Poirier, 81, of Groveland, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024,at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.

Robert was born in Cambridge, the son of Joseph and Martha (Majeski) Poirier.  He was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1960, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, where he met Jeanette, his wife of over 60 years. Upon returning from the Army, the couple settled first in Cambridge and then in Billerica, where they raised four children. In 1970, at the age of 27, Robert co-founded a mechanical contracting company. After many successful years, he would move on to establish a second company that he subsequently passed on to his four children, leaving a legacy of financial stability & business opportunity for future generations.As empty nesters, Robert and Jeanette built a home in York, Maine and enjoyed the Maine coast for ten years before settling on the Merrimack River in Groveland. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, poker, and maintaining his lawn and gardens. He cherished his family, extended family, and friends. He was a warm, welcoming, and entertaining co-host for countless pool parties, open houses, lake house weekends, and holiday gatherings. He had a tremendous gift for bringing all the people in his life together for celebrations of every kind.

Robert is survived by his wife Jeanette (Peischer) Poirier, his son Joseph, daughter-in–law Catherine, son Robert, daughter-in-law Ann, son Richard, daughter-in-law Janet, and daughter Michelle. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Dan, Michael, Emily, Sarah, Joseph, and Marko, and four great grandchildren Dylan, Brady, Kaiden, and Isla. Robert was predeceased by his sisters Joan Caldwell, Barbara Campbell, and his granddaughter Abigail.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Life will be held on May 11, 2024, from 12 – 4 P.M. at the Cafe Escadrille, 26 Cambridge Street in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Assisting the family with arrangements is Kevin B.
