Haverhill – Dorothy Marie Kissel, 77, passed away December 17, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a short illness.Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Victor J. and Mary T. (Ambrozavitch) Kissel. Dorothy attended Perley High School in Georgetown, graduating in the Class of 1959. After graduation, she attended Burdett College in Boston. Following graduation she worked as the Business Agent Secretary of Local 201 IUE and later as a Bookkeeper for District 2 IUE until her retirement. An avid sportswoman, she played basketball and softball in her youth and enjoyed golfing and bowling throughout her adult life. She traveled all over the United States and Canada to visit friends and family as well as throughout the United States for bowling conventions and to golf. Dorothy was a big Boston Red Sox fan, never missing a game either at Fenway Park or watching the game on television. She enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, particularly trying her luck at Bingo. Most of all, she loved her family and was devoted to her niece, nephew, great niece and great nephew. She was a loving daughter and sister, a cherished aunt and a loyal friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Dorothy is survived by her brother, Vincent M. Kissel of Haverhill her sister in law, Kimberly J. Kissel of Plaistow, NH nephew Michael P. Kissel and his wife Marie D. of Hampstead, NH niece, Heather K. Currier and her husband Jay D. of Plaistow, NH great niece Lillian D. Currier great nephews Mark A. Kissel and Stone R. Currier. She was predeceased by her brothers, Philip R. Kissel and Daniel M. Kissel and her sister in law Joyce Kissel.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, December 27 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will be on Friday morning at 10:00AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill.
