John F. Mack

John F. “Popeye” Mack, 77, husband of Margaret (Chaffee) Mack, passed away May 8, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with his loving family by his side.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Augusta M. (Davis) Mack. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1959. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis on a submarine patrolling the waters surrounding Cuba. John was employed for over 40 years at Haverhill Paperboard. He was also employed as a mechanic at Jaffarian Volvo in Haverhill. John loved riding horses, fishing and camping. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a clamming business out of the Parker River. He was a happy and content man, devoted to his family. John will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Margaret of 49 years, he was survived by his children, Bonnie C. Mack and John F. Mack, Jr. both of Haverhill; his grandson Sheldon Michael Grandmont and granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Emery; two great grandchildren; his siblings, Richard N. Mack and his wife Bonita; Eva M. Saulnier and David A. Mavrow; Michael F. Mack; Joseph E. Mack and his wife Gail; and Thomas S. Mack, all of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy Lee Mack, brothers Donald E. Mack and Louis G. Mack.
