Lillian P. (Cronin) Lupi

Haverhill – Lillian P. (Cronin) Lupi, 93, wife of the late Ernest M. Lupi, Sr., passed away January 30, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary T. (Kiely) Cronin. She was a life-long resident of Haverhill and with her husband Ernest, brought her family up in Acre part of the city. She was a woman of strong faith and was a life-long parishioner of St. James Church. Lillian was employed as an office administrator for Lesande Shoe and worked at the former Western Electric. She enjoyed trips with her family to Saratoga, NY, Mohegan Sun Casino, and the Cape Cod Irish Village. She enjoyed knitting over 100 pairs of Children Mittens each year and donating them to her parish. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 60 years.  A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be remembered for her great sense of humor and kind spirit. Lillian will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lillian is survived by her children, Mary Laprel of Haverhill; Michael Lupi and his wife Maryann of Salisbury, formerly of Haverhill; Ernest M. Lupi Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Bradford; Judy Johns and her husband Barry of Haverhill; Grandchildren, Robert Laprel and wife Jessica, Shauna Laspina and husband Mark, Mary Caitlin Laprel, Brendan Laprel and wife Justine, Carla Dorsey, Michael Lupi, Daniel Lupi and wife Kerri, Alisha Lupi, Erica Lupi Whiting and husband Matt, Ernest Lupi, eleven great grandchildren;  her sister Eileen Breglia, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Ernest, Sr. she was predeceased by her brothers, Rev. Daniel Cronin, Francis Cronin, her sister Mary Maddix and her son in law, Robert Laprel.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, February 4 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday morning in the funeral home at 9:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38106.     I too remember Mrs. Garwich and the rocking chair. My brother and I had her as a teacher, social studies I think. What a cool woman she was. An effective educator, blessed with the ability to reach even the most hardened among us. I remember a punk or two getting wrangled up into her arms and plunked down on her lap for an embarrassing few minutes rocking in the “Baby”” chair. I always thought it was a wonderful tool she used in order to calm a rowdy or disruptive classmate down. The beauty of it was

    I am sincerely sorry for your loss and will not be able to attend the services unfortunately. She was a special woman and I recognize how fondly everyone spoke of her. May she rest in peace.
