Haverhill – Wayne F. Allen, 66, husband of the late Barbara J. (Grant) Allen, passed away July 13, 2019 at Lawrence General Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Milton and Eileen (Wilkes) Allen. Raised in North Andover, he was a graduate of Lawrence Regional Vocational Tech, studying auto repair. Wayne began working for the family cleaning business as well as working at Boston Ski Hill. He later went on to work for the Eagle Tribune as a newspaper carrier and start his own cleaning business. He was an extremely dedicated, charismatic and hard-working person. He leaves behind many wonderful customers.
He was an avid car enthusiast, tinkering and fixing all kinds of cars, going to car shows and car races with his family. Wayne was also a collector of model cars, which he proudly displayed. He also enjoyed spending his time bird-watching, taking leisurely walks, doing puzzles, bowling and visiting with friends and family. He was extremely sociable and knew many people in the community. His favorite time of year was Halloween, dressing up as Beetlejuice and delighting the neighborhood with his antics. Wayne was proud of his participation and completion of 5 Spartan Race obstacle courses. He was a devoted husband, father and Pop-Pop who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wayne is survived by his children, Christopher J. Allen and his wife Kirsten J. of Penacook, NH; Rebecca J. (Allen) Will and her husband James M. of Bradford; three grandchildren, Taylor J. Allen, Harper L. Allen and Owyn E. Will; sisters, Darlene Corkum and Sharon Gagnon, both of Haverhill; his father in law, Calvin Grant, Sr of Nashua, NH; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Sabin. Wayne also leaves behind his favorite pup, Oreo.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, July 20 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
