Gilbert J. Soucy, Jr. 83, of Amesbury, MA passed away on May 5, 2026 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Gilbert was born and raised in Lawrence, MA on August 9, 1942,and was the son of the late Gilbert J. and Eva (Caron) Soucy. He attended Lawrence Public Schools and graduatedfrom Lawrence High School, class of 1961. He was a dedicated Lawrence firefighter for over 25 years where he formed lifelong friendships.
Gilbert was known for his sense of humor, love of the stock market, and the unforgettable nicknames he gave to just about everyone he knew. He enjoyed staying active with his workouts and walks, gathering around the table for a good game of 45s -where he was famous for outbidding everyone at the table – and his many conversations about aliens. Gilbert was a true sun worshiper; he could be found soaking up the sunwhile wintering in Florida, in the summer at Salisbury Beach or beside the pool. His love for animals and nature reflected his kind and caring spirit.He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was the time spent with those he loved.
Gilbert is survived by his loving partner Christine LaClair of Amesbury, MA;daughters Christine M. Bizeur and her husband, James of Amesbury, MA with whom he lived; Kathleen A. Lambroukos and her partner, Rodney Jalbert of Haverhill, MA;and son Gilbert J. Soucy III and his wife, Debbie of Hampstead, NH.He also leaves behind his brothers, Gerald Soucy and his wife, Peggy, of Haines City, FL, and Richard K. Soucy of Salem, NH.Gilbert was the proud grandfather of James Bizeur, Jr. and his wife Katelyn; Stephanie Bizeur and her husband, Justin; Olyvia Lambroukos; Bella Lambroukos; Lauren Soucy and her husband Xander; and Ethan Soucy. He was blessed with great-grandchildren, Robert James Bizeur, Evelyn Marie Bizeur and Jonathan J. Soucy. He also leaves behind his children’s mother, Diane as well as many nieces, nephews and great friends.
Gilbert had a heart of gold, loved deeply, leaves behind countless memories and funny stories, and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
