It is with great sadness that we announce that Anne-Marie Collis passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Raised in Somerville and educated at Matignon High School, Anne moved to Groveland to raise her family. Once her children were grown, she decided to pursue one of her great passions and began a career in nursing. She earned her degree from Essex Aggie and eventually went on to teach a Certified Nursing Assistant course at Whittier Tech.
Following her retirement, Anne devoted herself to the great joys of her life: art, travel, and (most of all) her family. She and her devoted husband Jim also spent their winters on the beaches of Largo, Florida.
Anne will always be remembered by those who knew her for her gentle spirit and sharp wit, her wisdom and her love. She was always ready with a kind word and open ear.
Anne is predeceased by her husband James Collis and her parents, William Sr. and Harriet Burns of Cambridge. She is survived by her two brothers, John and William, Jr., as well as her six children: John Davis of Groveland and his wife, Patricia; Michael Davis of Largo; James Davis of Haverhill; Kenneth Davis of Groveland and his wife, Susan; Gayle Bereshny of Groveland and her husband, Roger; and Cathleen Collis of Plaistow, New Hampshire. She is also remembered by her many niece and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the High Pointe Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830 in her honor. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Please visit Comeau Funeral Home on Facebook or www.comeaufuneral.com
