Haverhill – Robert D. O’Hanley, 75,formerly of Groveland, passed away February 27, 2020 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.
Born in Cambridge, raised in Bradford and Groveland, he was the son of the late John W. and Evelyn H. (Lang) O’Hanley. He attended the Haverhill Trade School. He served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corp 1961 until 1966 . Robert was a decorated marksman and a proud Marine. He retired from the United States Postal Service. He worked in the Georgetown, Groveland and Haverhill Offices. An active Groveland resident before moving to Haverhill, he served on various boards for the town. He was elected to the Groveland Planning Board 1994 until 2016 and elected to the Board of Health 2006 until 2016. He was also Treasure for the Georgetown Fish and Game Club until 2017. In his younger years Robert enjoyed working on muscle cars, racing, fishing and panning for gold. He was an active member of the American Legion post 248, life member Marine Corp post 228. A proud family man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Susan Davis and her husband Kenneth of Groveland; Kathleen M. O’Hanley of Mineola, NY; his brother, Richard O’Hanley and his wife Donna of Englewood, FL; six grandchildren, Robert D. O’Hanley III and his wife Kasey, Samantha O’Hanley and her fiancé` Brian Emerson, Zachary Davis and his fiancé` Heather Barbieri; Jacob Davis, Alexandra White and Cole O’Hanley; great grandchild, Hanley Rose Emerson. He was predeceased by his son, Robert D. O’Hanley Jr. in 2013.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, March 4 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will be on Thursday morning at 11:00AM in the funeral Home. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland.
