Marilyn J. (Decoteau) Ferguson, 86 February 22, 1934 - December 19, 2020

Merrimac – Marilyn J. (Decoteau) Ferguson, 86, formerly of Haverhill, wife of the late John J. Ferguson, passed away December 19, 2020 at her residence.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Pearl (Garrigan) Decoteau. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1952. Marilyn worked at the National Security Council in Washington, DC during the 1950’s. She was also employed later in her life as a supervisor at the former AT&T and Lucent Technologies. She was a young widow in the early 1980’s who raised her four children. A strong woman of character, she was very athletic, lettering in two sports, volley ball and basketball. She was an avid golfer and bowler, playing in many leagues in the area and often enjoyed a friendly game of 45’s. A devoted mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marilyn is survived by her children;  Tracy Ferguson and her husband Francesco Corvi of Newburport, Erin Connors and her husband Thomas of Amesbury; Jody Ferguson of Merrimac; Jack J. Ferguson and his wife Lynn of Lowell; her grandchildren, Kendall Connors, Thomas Connors, John Corvi, Mark Corvi, Michaela Corvi, Michael Richardson, Jessica Ferguson and Haley Ferguson; great grandchildren, Michael Richardson and Arianna Richardson; her sister, Marlane Clukey of AZ; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Harold Decoteau, Robert Decoteau and sister Marjorie Powers.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, December 22 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00AM at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill. Take solace in the fact that she loved you all so very much and that when she spoke of any of you, it was with sheer pride. How lucky you were to have her as your mother, friend and mentor for so many years.
