Newburyport – Joanne Kunkel Georges, 70, passed away peacefully at her home
on Plum Island in Newburyport December 28, 2020 surrounded by her loving
family.
Born in Ludlow and raised in Indian Orchard, MA, she was the daughter of the late
Mitchell and Anne (Jez) Labuda. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in
Springfield and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University. Joanne
had a corporate career with Budget Rent A Car managing operations at Logan
Airport and moved on to national management, later in life she worked as a
corporate consultant. She had a passion for the water and loved spending time
boating and sailing with her husband Paul. Joanne enjoyed gardening, reading and
taking long walks with her dog, Graci. Her favorite thing was spending time with
her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Paul Georges of Newburyport; her children,
Ross Kunkel, Kristi Reed and Kerri Kunkel; grandchildren Penelope and Sebastian
Kunkel; brothers Chuck Labuda and Dan Labuda. Funeral services at this time will be private.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
