Haverhill – Virginie A. (Carty) Dorestant, 89, wife of the late Niels J. Dorestant, passed away at her home on February 1, 2021.
Born in Port De Paix, Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Firmin and Michelia (Etienne) Carty. Raised in Haiti, she came to the United States in 1971, eventually settling in Haverhill in 1980. Virginie worked throughout the Merrimac Valley at Digital, Davco and Allen Shoe, but her most cherished accomplishments were caring for her family. She loved dancing, music, walking and enjoying the outdoors. Virginie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, who had a strong Baptist faith and who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Virginie is survived by her children, Noe J. Dorestant of FL; Phebee S. Pimentel and her husband Jean; Marie Yolette Dorestant; Jean-Marc Dorestant; Mathieu Dorestant and his wife Esther; Frederick J. Dorestant and his wife Ann Marie, all of Haverhill; her siblings, Rigobert Carty and David Carty, both of Miami, FL, Marcel Carty and Anita Carty, both of Brooklyn, NY, Maude Fischer and her husband Edward of Lexington; thirteen grandchildren, Prisca Pimentel, Diana Pimentel, Alvin Pimentel and his wife Jessica, Michael Cenat, Edelth Dorestant, Edward Dorestant, Johnathan Dorestant, Alexandra Dorestant, Jean-Marc Dorestant, Jr., Naomi Dorestant, Christian Dorestant, Frederick Dorestant, Jr. and Naisha Dorestant and her husband Fritz; fifteen great grandchildren. Kadeem, Sade`, Shanice, Aliyas, Julius and Jadius Pimentel, Josiah Dorestant, Elijah Haas, Michael Anthony Cenat, Athena, Astryn and Logan Cenat, Khavani, Liam and Mason Ahrendts; and one great great grandchild, Kadaya Pimentel; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Niels she was predeceased by her daughter Eunice Dorestant and sisters Agnes, Jeanne and Annette Carty.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 8 from 10:00AM until 11:00 at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
