Haverhill – Mary “Susan” (Woolnough) Sharpe, 81, wife of Garry J. Sharpe, passed away March 5, 2021 at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill.
Born in High Lane, Cheshire, England, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Doris M. (Leece) Woolnough. She attended Castle Rushen High School and North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary Training School in England and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Susan was a Registered Nurse and a District Midwife. She worked in healthcare in England and came to the United States in October of 1972. After settling in Haverhill, she continued her work in healthcare and as a Teacher’s Aide for the Haverhill School System. With her husband Garry, she traveled across the world, Europe, Australia, the Caribbean, Alaska and Canada to name just a few places. Known for her sense of humor and her love to talk, she had listeners sitting on the edge of their seats with her stories of the Isle of Man. Susan loved to cook, was an avid reader and enjoyed being around people. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her loving husband Garry, Susan is survived by her children, David J. and Ruth E. Sharpe of Foxborough; Robert J. and Jean E. Sharpe of Danville, NH; Richard G. Sharpe of Haverhill; Benjamin L. and Melissa A. Sharpe of Sandown, NH; Elizabeth P. Manos-Sharpe and Erica Lynn Manos-Sharpe of South Hadley; brother James D. Woolnough of Port Erin, Isle Of Man, British Isles; sister Elizabeth J. Boyd of Christies Beach, South Australia, Australia; grandchildren, Nicole E. Sweeny, Kathleen E. Sharpe, Maureen E. Sharpe, Benjamin Sharpe, Jack Sharpe and William Sharpe; great granddaughter Quinn P. Sweeny; and extended family around the world.
