Haverhill – James K. Poley, 85, husband of the late Joan C. (Belanger) Poley, passed away June 15, 2021 at Portsmouth Hospital in Portsmouth, NH.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Ross O. and Doris M. (Fortier) Poley. Raised in Haverhill, he attended St. James Grammar School and St. James High School, Class of 1954. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1956 and was honorably discharged. James enjoyed many outdoor sports, boating, water skiing, golfing, and snow skiing and liked to tend to his flower garden. He also enjoyed bowling and was a founding father of Haverhill Youth Hockey. James traveled to the island of St. Martin every year for 15 years and enjoyed his day trips to Foxwoods. He loved his pets, both dogs and cats. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his children, Deborah DeBlois and her partner Jake Hamel of Bradford; Robert A. Poley and his wife Lynn of Bridgeton, ME; Cheryl A. Poley of Bradford; Shawn A. Poley and his wife Robyn of Rochester, NH; his sister, Deanna Holsinger and her husband Richard of Homosassa, FL; seven grandchildren, Nicole Semeraro, Jason DeBlois, Cheyanne Poley, Jami Poley, Angel Hyde, Tiffany Ghrist, and Amy Allard; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife Joan, he was predeceased by his brother Ross Poley.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, June 23 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Thursday morning at 9:00AM in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 10:00AM.
