Big enough to serve you, small enough to know you.

Richard G. Ferguson

Haverhill – Richard G. Ferguson, 69, husband of Patricia (Harb) Ferguson, passed away October 1, 2021 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with his loving family by his side.

Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late George O. and Christine (Lazzara) Ferguson. He grew up in Lawrence and attended St. Monica’s School through the 8th grade and was a graduate of Tenney High School, Class of 1971. Richard was employed for 21 years in the shipping department for Lucent Technologies and following his retirement he was a much loved van driver for Sarah’s Place. He loved taking care of the elderly and cherished his job there. He enjoyed traveling and clothes shopping with his wife Pat. Known for his great sense of humor, his boisterous voice and huge heart, Richard was liked by all and had a curious mind, always wanted to keep learning. He was very athletic, playing basketball, jogging, playing tennis and lifting weights. An avid reader, he enjoyed getting the worldly news from the newspapers and television. A devoted husband, father and brother, he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Patricia, he is survived by his son, Matthew J. Ferguson of Haverhill and sister, Patricia M. Ferguson of Methuen; brother and sister in law Attorney Robert D. Harb and his wife Cindy of Plaistow, NH; and two nieces, Christine and Sarah.

Dear Kathy and family, I was so saddened to hear about Paul’s passing…I’ve always had such fond memories of our young lives together and I will always hold them dear to me. It has been 25 years since I last saw you both and had been hoping to catch up at the 50th reunion in September. Although that is not meant to be, just know Paul will be in my thoughts. After reading the beautiful words in his obituary, I know Paul had a life surrounded by loving family and friends and he was appreciated for all of the values I saw emerging in him as a young man all those years ago .I’m glad he lived a life that was so full and that he gave so much to so many. As I mentioned I have many memories of this fine person…and they will always bring a smile to my face when I think of them… and him. Rest in Peace, Paul. My thoughts are with you, Kathy. -Ann Enos Finn

To Rich’s family..My heartfelt sympathy. Rich was my lifelong best friend. I knew him since the age of 4. There are literally no words that can describe my sorrow and broken heart of his passing. Rich will remain in my heart forever. Rest in peace, my friend. I will miss you dearly.
