Bradford – Scott B. Whittier, 54, husband of Elena M. (Chronis) Whittier, passed away November 24, 2021, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought and courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mary (Allen) Whittier. After graduating from Whittier Tech School, he became a machinist and was employed for 27 years at Ultrasonic Systems, Inc. in Ward Hill. An avid sportsman, he loved hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time in the outdoors. Scott had a sharp wit and great sense of humor, but was also known for his big heart–an amazing man who would do anything for anyone that asked. A giving and thoughtful man, he will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. Scott tackled his fight with cancer like he did every other challenge or problem—with grit and steely determination.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Elena, and their children, Tyler and Lauren. Scott was very proud of his kids and always said they were his two greatest accomplishments in life. Not to be forgotten are his much-loved family pets, Millie and Chloe. He also leaves behind his brother Frederick S. Whittier and his wife Gina of Sandown, NH; his sister Mary Brisson and her husband Rock of Chester, NH; his mother-in-law Marion Chronis of Georgetown, MA; his sisters-in law Gina Velonis and Dianne Duckworth and their husbands Nick Velonis and Dave Duckworth, of Salem, MA, and Bradford, MA, respectively. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Scott’s thoughtful and loving nature did not end with his passing. It is his wish that no services be held so that his wife and children are a little less burdened during this extremely difficult time. A celebration of life will be held at a time and place that the family feels will best honor his memory. Until then, think of Scott when you pull back the string of a bow or raise a rifle, cast a fishing line, swing a golf club, or are just enjoying the outdoors.
Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Scott’s memory to High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, or On the Wing wildlife rehabilitation center in Epping, NH. Please visit Comeau Funeral Home on Facebook or www.comeaufuneral.com
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held Saturday, June 18 from 2-5pm at 24 Sherwood Drive, Bradford. Please RSVP to 978-804-1503 or whittiers4@comcast.net
