Haverhill – Richard E. LaPlante, 83, husband of Barbara A. (Croston) LaPLante, passed away January 14, 2022 at Penacook Place in Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Alfred and Yvonne (DeBlois) LaPlante. He attended St. Joseph’s School and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1956. He served his country in the United States Army thankfully serving between Korea and Vietnam. He was honorably discharged. Richard was an electrical engineer employed at the former Western Electric, AT & T and Lucent Technologies for 40 years. He served in the Boy Scouts in many capacities up to the district level. He also taught CCD at St. Rita’s Church. Richard enjoyed stamp collecting and traveling to Montreal, Canada. He loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Despite enduring more than his fair share of adversity, Richard was always quick with a joke and loved to be the life of the party.
In addition to his wife of Barbara, he is survived by his children, Lawrence LaPlante and his wife Laurie and Erika Davis, all of Haverhill; grandchildren, Jason LaPlante, Casey Strom and her husband Ryan and Corey LaPlante, Nicholas DeVeau, Brianna Davis and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Dwayne E. LaPlante and siblings, Alfred and Robert LaPlante and Midge Dolf.
The family has chosen to have a private ceremony. Richard will be laid to rest in the family lot at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Ave, Haverhill.
