Haverhill – Amado A. Castillo, 92, husband of Paulina (Sorrentino) Castillo for 69 years, passed away February 2, 2022 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Bonao, Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Amado A. and Dilia (Sanchez) Castillo. He was raised and educated in the Dominican Republic and Immigrated to the United States in 1982 with his family and resided in Haverhill. Amado worked in the local shoe industry in manufacturing. He loved the game of baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox. He had a strong faith and looked forward to attending his church, he was a Seventh Day Adventist. He loved listening to classical and Christian music and was a big supporter of his wife’s cake business. For the last 10 years he dedicated his life to the caring of his wife Paulina. Amado will be remembered with his signature look, his flat cap and his love and support for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife Paulina, Amado is survived by his children, Mechy Abreu and her husband Plinio, Radhames Castillo and his wife Daisy, Mirian Castillo, Aracelis Castillo, Maira Abreu, Maria “Charo” Miranda and her husband Carlos, Jacquiline Castillo and her husband Danny Canela; 16 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; siblings, Miguel Angel Castillo, Federico Castillo, Anibal Castillo, Gladis Castillo and Emanuel Castillo; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Elpidio Castillo, Sebastian Castillo, Jorge Castillo and Pedro Castillo.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, February 6 from 2:00PM until 4:30PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 4:30PM. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, John Ward Ave., Haverhill on Monday at 11:00AM.
