Haverhill- Jenness W. “Bud” Merrick, 88, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Friday, October 14th.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Earnest D. and Lena F. (Patten) Merrick. Raised and educated in Haverhill he attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, class of 1953. Bud proudly served his country as a Specialist First Class 4 in the U.S. Army for 4 years.
For many years, Bud owned and operated Bud Merrick Transmission Service located on Amesbury Road in Haverhill. He had a stellar reputation as the best transmission mechanic in the Merrimack Valley. He also was an avid race fan and owned and drove a race car at the Pines Speedway in Groveland Massachusetts. He and his wife Connie enjoyed working in their yard planting flowers and manicuring their perfect lawn.
Mr. Merrick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Constance M. “Connie” Merrick (Buttrick) of Haverhill, daughters Diann Kelly and Kim LeBlanc and their spouses, Dan Cotton and Chris LeBlanc. He also leaves behind his granddaughter Paige Martin (Kelly) and her husband Keith Martin, and their daughter, Bud’s great granddaughter, Colette Martin. He also leaves nieces and nephews all over the country. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Kenny and Sonny.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours at the Kevin B. Comeau funeral home on Thursday, October 20 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM for remembrance and celebration of the life of Bud. Bud did indeed have a highly respected reputation as to GOAT of Transmission Specialists in the Merrimack Valley area.
