Lillian Meli, (Hayes), 82 July 5, 1940 - December 26, 2022

Haverhill–Lillian Meli, (Hayes), 82, of Haverhill, died on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by her family.

Lillian was born in Medford on July 5, 1940, and was the daughter of the late William and Genevieve (King) Hayes.

Lillian was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Matignon High School in Cambridge, Class of 1957. After high school she went to secretarial school and worked and later retired from Carolina Freight Company. She married and began to raise her family in Medford. She loved spending time with her family, hosting and attending family dinners, the beach, cooking, traveling to York Beach and Aruba. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watched as they grew up in all that they did.

Lillian was the loving mother of Marie McPherson of Haverhill, Suzanne Poirier and her husband Billy of Newburyport, Paul DeSimone of Pelham, NH. She was the sister of Michael Hayes and his wife Lisa of Winthrop, David Hayes and his wife Patricia of Stoneham, and Joanne Doucette of North Andover. She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica Kaufman, Samantha Poirier, Dylan Poirier and his wife Paige, Ryan DeSimone and Nicole DeSimone. She was the great-grandmother of Lillyana Gonzalez and Catalia Gonzalez.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday morning from 9:00AM until 10:30AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
