Dorice M. (Maillet) Leger, 92 January 19, 1930 - January 2, 2023

Haverhill – Dorice M. (Maillet) Leger, 92, wife of, Laurie Leger who predeceased her in 2018, passed away on Monday January 2 at the Aspen Hill nursing home in Haverhill.

Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada she was the daughter of the late, Donat and Evangeline (Cassie) Maillet. She attended local schools and was a Graduate of Moncton High School.

She met and married the love of her life, Laurie, in 1949 and shared almost seventy years together. She and her husband immigrated to Haverhill where they would raise their family. For several years Dorice was employed at the ALCO Switch Manufacturing Company on the assembly line, retiring in 1990. Dorice and her husband, Laurie enjoyed wintering in Tequesta, FL and summered in St. Edwards, New Brunswick. A caring, warm hearted woman, she would see children pass by her house walking to school in the cold and she would knit hats and mittens and drop them at the school.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother she leaves behind her children, Robert J. Leger and his wife, Anne of Haverhill, Ivan J. Leger and his wife Paula, of Haverhill, Joanne M. Varneke, of CT and her partner Peter Ledwith Jr.  and Donna M. Miller and her husband, Paul, of Naugatuck Ct. She also leaves, nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dorice was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Leger,  a son, Achille Leger and grandson Joseph Trask.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Thursday, January 5 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 Noon at Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St. Bradford. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Primrose St. Haverhill.
