Swampscott – David Joseph Sakurai, 61, passed away on Thursday, May 18, at the Tufts Medicine Care at home at High Pointe Hospice House after a long illness.
David was born on May 31, 1961, in Boston, to Barbara (Bell) Sakurai. David attended Boston schools graduating from Madison Park High School, Class of 1979 and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from Berklee College of Music. David was a self employed real estate appraiser and owner of DJS Appraisal. He was a sports fan enjoying golfing, hockey, and boxing. Music was #1 for David and he enjoyed playing with different music groups including the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra. David was a loving father, brother and uncle whose music and spirit will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
David is survived by Silvana Lomba-Sakurai, his sons Kyle D. Sakurai, of Swampscott, and Brandon J. Sakurai and partner Tori Budd of Beverly, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind brothers Ken Sakurai, Hampton, NH and Carlos Desedas, Emeryville, CA; and sisters Deanna Desedas, Emeryville, CA and Jolie Bastable, San Francisco, CA.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
