HAVERHILL – Karlene (Detato) Craft, 66, of Haverhill, passed away on February 9, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born on October 20, 1958, to Karl and Jean (Chapman) Detato, Karlene was a graduate of Georgetown High School, Class of 1976. Throughout
her life, she held many jobs and particularly enjoyed her time as a waitress at the Georgetown Country Club. However, her greatest joy and purpose were found in the love and care she poured into her family. With a heart as big as the sun she loved to bask in, and as warm as the tea she loved to drink, Karlene lived her life with an open door and open arms. She loved fiercely, felt deeply, and believed in family above all else. Whether she was cooking a warm meal, making sure everyone was cared for, or simply soaking in the joy of having her loved ones together, her presence brought comfort and love to everyone around her. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—breathing in the fresh air on a beautiful day and sharing lively, laughter-filled moments with those she cherished. Karlene’s love knew no bounds, and her light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew her.

She leaves behind her beloved children: June; Nathan Craft of Springvale, ME; Joshua Cloutman and Rebecca Ball of Haverhill; Matthew Almestica of Haverhill,  Naomi Almestica, and Dylan Merrill of Merrimac. She was proudly “Mum” to Hilda, Taina, Manuel Jr., Alexis, Alana, Vierka, Isaiah and so many who were embraced as family. Karlene is lovingly remembered by her sisters: Susan and Steve Obremski of Evansville, VT; Karen and Christopher May of Springvale, ME; and Donna and John Casoli of Alfred, ME. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Michael Cloutman, Jackson Merrill, Noah Merrill, Marlee Merrill, Derek, and Daxton Cloutman, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She shared an especially deep bond with her grandson Michael, a love that was evident in every moment they spent together.
