Cecilia Dorothy (LaBranche) Lowes, 88, of Haverhill, died Thursday, April 7, at the Wingate at Haverhill Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, Joseph H. and Dora M. (Stranch) LaBranche. She attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1941. She was a devote member of St. John the Baptist Church and proud to be part of it since the parish was founded.An avid traveler, Mrs. Lowes, met and married her late husband, Matthew A. Lowes while he was serving in the marine Corp. As newlyweds she traveled with him from base to base as she was involved in service support organizations. She would return to Haverhill while he husband was shipped off to serve during WWII.Ms. Lowes was employed as an Administrative Secretary for City of Haverhill School Department, retiring in 1978. She loved to travel, and was an avid reader.The widow of Matthew A. Lowes who died in 1987, she leaves her daughter, Cecilia D., her husband, Charles E. “Chip” Hubbard, and their children, Cecilia Collins, and Charles E. “Chuck” Jr, all of Haverhill, a son Matthew J. Lowes, his wife, Sandra, and their children, Michelle Dawson, and Matthew Lowes, of Manchester, NH, two brothers, Dr. Victor LaBranche, of Haverhill, and F. Peter LaBranche and his wife Lorraine (Cote), also of Haverhill, a daughter in law, Dianna L. (Morrill) Lowes, of Haverhill, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David F. Lowes, her brother, Joseph LaBranche, and companion, William Lowes.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Sunday from 2 until 5PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept.142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142.
