John Patrick DiBurro Jr. – AKA “Big John,” of Haverhill, died Saturday, July 9, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Josephine (Auriemma) and the late John P. DiBurro Sr., raised in the Bradford section of Haverhill, he attended public schools, and Haverhill Trade School, where he excelled in the machine trade.Although Big John’s life ended at a young age, his accomplishments were many. Beginning his career as a heavy equipment operator, he became a successful businessman as owner of Big Boy’s Toys, and Big Boy’s Truck Equipment and Classics, in Plaistow, NH. As a machinist and mechanic, he was an avid car enthusiast, whether it be collecting and restoring classics, or racing street stock. Big John was well known in the local racing circuit, racing at the Pine’s Speedway, Hudson, Lee, and Star Speedways. In the beginning he was team 290 and later was driver for Team #9 New Hampshire.A devoted son, husband, brother and father, he leaves his wife of twenty-eight years, Sharon E. (Trainor) DiBurro, RN, his mother, Josephine (Auriemma) DiBurro, of Bradford, a sister, Joan H. DiBurro-Kopps, and her husband, George, of Haverhill, a brother, Joseph P. DiBurro, of Bradford, a daughter, Kristina, step children, John Burnham, of Concord, NH, Jennifer Burnham-Landry, of Canterberry, NH, and Jeffrey Burnham, of Gilmanton, NH, six cherished grandchildren, Matthew Landry, Alex, Anthony, Aidan, and Autumn Burnham, and Gabriel, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.Funeral services were private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St. #501, Boston, MA 02110-1258. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill.
