Lorraine J. (Evans) Leslie, 62, of Haverhill, formerly of Merrimac and Cambridge, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer.Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Legrega) Evans. As a child her family relocated to Merrimac where she attended Grammar School and later would graduate from Haverhill High School, Class of 1964.Mrs. Leslie was employed as a bookkeeper for Frequency Devices Corp. in Haverhill for over thirty-five years. A devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished nothing more than time spent with family. An active member of All Saints Parish community, she volunteered by helping those in need with its food pantry program.The widow of William M. Leslie Sr, who died in 1980, she leaves her beloved family, a son, William M. Jr. and his wife Cheryl, of Linwood, WA, two daughters and their husbands, Patricia A. and Gregory P. Spaulding, and Donna M. and James Kowalik all of Haverhill, seven brothers, Arthur, and William, both of Merrimac, MA, John, of Seabrook, NH, Ronald, of Ossipee, NH, Frank, of Milton, NH, Joseph, of CA, and Donald, of Deerfield, NH., three sisters, Rosealie Bouchicas, of Newton, NH, Gale Taillon, and Ann Vadeboncouer, both of Haverhill, grandchildren, Thomas Leslie, Eleisha Leslie, James Kowalik, Gregory Spaulding Jr, Angela Spaulding, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Ruthann Decosta.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Ave. Haverhill.
