Jean Edward Roy, 78, of Haverhill, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Napoleon J. and Emma (Bouchard) Roy. He attended Salem Public Schools and was a 1949 graduate of Salem Trade School.Mr. Roy was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for the Waterlac Company in Danvers for over 25 years he then worked in the same capacity for Wang Laboratories in Lowell for many years, retiring in 1993.A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his priorities were his family. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his cherished grandchildren. He was a member of the Haverhill Hound, Rod, and Gun Club.The widower of Elizabeth J. (Holloran) who died in 2004, he leaves four daughters and their husbands, Ann E. and David J. Leary, of Bradford, Marie T. Roy, of Atkinson, N.H., Janet M. and Douglas A. Dow, of Atkinson, N.H., Karen J. and James B. Young, of Merrimac seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Daniel Leary, Nolan, Haley, and Jessica Dow, Griffin and Hilary Young a brother and his wife, George and Cathy Roy, of New Jersey a sister, Leatrice Krochmal, of Salem sisters-in-law, Ann Morris, Teresa Ashe, Margaret Holloran and several nieces and nephews.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125), from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St., Bradford. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill.
