Roland Lee Stiehl, 57, of Haverhill, formerly of Albert Lea, Minn., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer that he contracted as a result of service to his country.Born and educated in Albert Lea, Minn., Roland was the son of the late Marvin and Lois (Johannson) Stiehl. Upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served as a lineman and communications specialist. A Vietnam War veteran, he served his first tour from April 1970 until February 1972. For the next 10 years he was employed using his electronics skills in the communications field in the private sector. In 1982 he re-enlisted and was honorably discharged in 1986.A lover of animals, he and his wife, Mary always kept dogs as part of their family.Among his survivors, he leaves his beloved wife of nine years, Mary (Worth) McCadden-Stiehl of Haverhill, and her children, especially Patrick with whom he shared a special bond. Roland also leaves his brother, Dale Stiehl a sister, Gloria Stiehl and nephew, Ronnie Stiehl, all of Minnesota.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday (today) from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Kevin B.
