Nurys Chavez, 62, of Haverhill, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late, Mario Chavez and Gloria Pastora Garcia. She moved to Boston, and for the past 18 years she made a home here in Haverhill for herself and her daughter.Ms. Chavez was a loving mother, sister, and daughter. A very outgoing person, she never took for granted the time spent with her daughter, Gloria, extended family and numerous friends. She had a caring, generous, selfless, spirit and always looked out for others. She loved music, enjoyed dancing. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of St. James Church.She leaves her beloved daughter, Gloria P. O’Neal of Haverhill two brothers, Henry and Mario Chavez, both of New York City and nieces and nephews.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford.
