Edmond William Daly, 89, of Haverhill, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.Born in Haverhill, June 24, 1921, he was the son of the late, William J. and Nellie V. (McSweeney) Daly. He attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1940, Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1941, and attended Merrimack College. He was a lifelong member of St. James Parish and the St. James Holy Name Society. Mr. Daly was the president and founder of E. W. Daly Company from 1961 until his retirement in 2000.A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was also politically and civically conscientious and was always up to date on issues in his community, country, and world. He was a member of the Democratic City Committee, of which he served as Treasurer, and later, Chairman. He was a member of Kiwanis International, he was the past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Jackson Club. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Norwich University Parents Association, and President of the Haverhill High School Hockey Boosters Club.The widower of Lucinda H. (Snow) who died in 2009, he leaves a son, Matthew J. Daly and his wife Margaret “Peggy” (Wilson) of Natick three daughters, Haverhill City Councilor, Mary Ellen Daly-O’Brien and her husband Thomas E. O’Brien, Lucinda A. Daly, Barbara E. Jesionowski and her husband James C., all of Haverhill a daughter-in-law, Jane (DeRoche) Daly of Kingfield, Maine 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth A., Julia E., Shannon M. and Bridget L. O’Brien, Tabitha E., John A. and Connor W. Daly, Jarek C., and Zachary W. Jesionowski, Ian J., Brianna M. and Christopher E. Daly a brother, Daniel S. and his wife Marie (Donovan) Daly of Bradford a sister, Helen Begley of Lawrence and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Jerome F. Daly in 2005, and siblings, Maurice Daly, and M. Doris McAvoy.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday, Nov. 5, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Maplewood/North Parish Cemetery, Main Street, Haverhill.
