David B. Vencis, Jr., 55, of Exeter, formerly of Haverhill, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.Born in Lawrence, he was the son of David B. Vencis Sr. and Marilyn R. (Dinsmore) Wentworth, and step-son to Richard H. Wentworth. He attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1973.Mr. Vencis was devoted not only to his family but also his community. A local businessman, he owned and operated Rockingham Auto Glass. He was a Lieutenant for the Town of Exeter Volunteer Call Fire Department, and was a Den Leader for the Cub Scouts Pack 322. He delivered oil for Hartman Oil Co. and later delivered parts for Walls Lincoln-Mercury of Methuen and TASCA Automotive Group of Cranston, R.I. Throughout most of his life he had a passion for auto racing, and was a part of the Bryan Wall Motor Venture Race Team and lived for the sport, a passion that was shared with his whole family.Besides his parents, he leaves his beloved wife, Caren D. (Moss) Vencis of Exeter a son, David B. Vencis III, also of Exeter a daughter, Amber L. and her husband Eric R. Sullivanl a grandson, Evan R. Sullivan of Haverhill three brothers, Robert W. Vencis and his wife Diana J. (Willey) and Richard H. Wentworth Jr. and his wife Paula E. (Pistone), both of Haverhill, David Mancini of Orange County, Calif. a sister, Lisa A. (Wentworth) Couture of Salem, N.H. along with a mother-in-law, Beverly A. Vincent brothers-in-law, Walter Moss and Kevin Vincent, all of Exeter and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Mark A. Vencis. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Bosley and Abby.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
