Haverhill – Pamela J. (Rice) O’Brien, 68, of Haverhill, formerly of Lawrence, died Friday, February 7, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, Paul T. Rice Sr. and Elinore G. (Langley). Living in Peabody as a child, she attended St. John’s Grammar School and as her family relocated back to Haverhill she would graduate from Haverhill High School, class of 1963. A woman with meticulous organizational skills, she spent her entire career as a Bookkeeper and was employed at the Daher Shoe Co. in Methuen for thirty- one years, retiring in 2008. Spending her married life in Lawrence where she raised her children, she moved back to her family home in Haverhill after her husbands passing.Although she had a full time career, she lived for her family. The widow of Martin “Larry” O’Brien who died in 2008, she and her husband raised two beautiful daughters, and they produced four cherished grandchildren. Coming from a tight knit family, she shared those family values with her children. Pam was a selfless woman and thought of everyone else before herself. She enjoyed building doll houses for the children with her late brother Paul and the houses will be handed to future generations.She leaves her loving daughters, Kelly J. O’Brien-Langan, of Fremont, NH, and Erin M. O’Brien-Dube, of Haverhill, four grandchildren, Kylie Dube, Austin Langan, Timothy Dube Jr, and Jayden Langan, a brother, Philip R. Rice and his wife, Darlene (Amodio), of Haverhill, two sisters, Donna Roberts and her husband, Donald of Atkinson, NH, and Melanie Altruda and her husband, Joseph, of Northbridge, sister in law, Brenda (Files) Rice, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Paul T. Rice Jr.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Walnut Cemetery, Kenoza St. Haverhill.
