Haverhill – Dorothy Marie (Crites) Keefe, 92, a lifelong Haverhill resident, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, Albert E. and Mary Ann (Burke) Crites. A resident of the Acre Section of Haverhill all of her life, she was a graduate of both, St. James Grammar School and St. James High School, class of 1938. A woman of strong faith, she was a dedicated member of the St. James Parish community. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. James #436. Mrs. Keefe was employed as a customer service representative in the admitting office of the former Hale Hospital for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1986. She previously worked as an assembler at the former Western Electric in North Andover for six years, and began her career as a stenographer and administrative assistant for the Wings Express Co. in Haverhill.The widow of Thomas V. Keefe who died in 1998, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two sons Thomas J. Keefe and his wife, Maureen (Hardigan), of Methuen, Brian J. Keefe and his wife, Kathleen (Rogers), of Atkinson, NH, two daughters Kathleen M. O’Brien, of Atkinson, NH, and Mary Dodier, of Haverhill. She also leaves seven cherished grandchildren James O’Brien, Mark O’Brien, Jennifer Keefe, Melissa Keefe, Bridget Keefe, Thomas Keefe Jr, and Eric Dodier, five great grandchildren Jack O’Brien, Max O’Brien, Casey O’Brien, Owen Anderson, and Sydney Anderson, brothers in law, Daniel R. Harrington, and Al Wenckus, and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Noreen M. Harrington, and Nancy A. Wenckus, and her brothers, Albert and John Crites.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday, March 7, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will begin from the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill. Burial is private.
