Haverhill – Robert David Thompson, 56, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home after being stricken ill suddenly.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Donald W. Thompson, and the late, Rosemarie D. (Hamm) Thompson. Educated in Haverhill, he attended Haverhill Public schools, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1975. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was Honorably Discharged.Mr. Thompson was employed at the former Foss Manufacturing Company in Haverhill, and later worked as a Custodian at the Knipe School in Haverhill.Being close with his family, he cherished his nieces and nephews, and enjoyed family gatherings. He loved all animals, especially having a fondness for cats.He leaves his father, Donald W. Thompson, of Haverhill, two brothers, Donald E. Thompson and his wife, Patricia, of Bradford, and John W. Thompson and his wife, Donna, of Newburyport, a sister, Kathleen J. Duston, of Bradford, nieces and nephews, Melanie Fuller, Thomas Duston, Kimberly Duston, Casey Thompson, Erin Thompson-Bertrand, great nieces and nephews, Melissa, Ashley, Evan, Brianna, Chase, and Nora. He was predeceased by his brother in law Albert H. Duston. Funeral services for Mr. Thompson are private.
