Haverhill – Lucille E. (Gill) Butler, 99, wife of the late William A. Butler, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 7, 2016 at Hannah Duston Healthcare.Born in Bristol, VT, she was the daughter of the late Raymond G. and Mabel (Cousineau) Gill. Raised in Vermont she was educated in Brighton and was a graduate of Brighton High School, Class of 1935. Lucille met her husband, William, the love of her life, while she was working in Schrafts in Harvard Square. They were married in April of 1941. They raised their family in Cambridge. She attended Dale Carnegie Institute and upon graduation she was employed at Cambridge Electric for many years. Lucille worked in many capacities at Cambridge Electric, including sales, workshops and training of fellow employees. She was well liked and respected by her peers and coworkers. A very accomplished woman, she was known to accomplish anything she set her mind to. She was an amazing woman who played baseball as a young girl in Vermont, often chosen first for a team for her homerun hitting. As a mother, she would bring cupcakes and hoodsie cups to her birthday child’s classroom.While living in Sarasota, FL she was a devoted member of the Senior Friendship Center and participated in their political round table. Lucille loved dancing and attended many dances at the senior center. She loved cooking and she was known for her wonderful pies. Her most treasured moments was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren when they were babies. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters, Joan A. Graham and her husband Joseph of Wells, ME and Sarasota, FL Carole A. Phillips and Donald Doucette of Haverhill Barbara E. Dorsey and her husband Walter of Wolfboro, NH seven grandchildren 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William A. Butler, her son James G. Butler and her great granddaughter Kasey E. Bryan.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, September 11 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM with a funeral service to take place at 4:30PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA 02445.
